Village Pizza
Village Pizza is a pizza restaurant at 616 University Ave., on the campus stretch of University Avenue. It opened in mid-October 2017 in the former Bob's Copy Shop[1].
History
The brothers Arturo Ruiz and Berna Cazares, whose family runs Rosati's Pizza franchises, announced the restaurant in August 2017[2]. It was planned for September — "Everything is ready but you know, the construction is what we're waiting for," Ruiz said that fall[3] — and opened in mid-October, serving from 11 a.m. daily and until bar time on Fridays and Saturdays, with no delivery and fast meals for $7 to $10[3][1].
A State Journal review in January 2018 found the sweet treats — churros, deep-fried "bites" with chocolate dipping sauce — upstaging the pizza, and praised the fried mushrooms; the harvest pizza was "generous with its cheese and toppings"[1].
Trivia
- The address had held a Pizza Pit store decades earlier, so Village Pizza returned pizza to 616 University Ave.
Locations
- 616 University Ave. (mid-October 2017 to present as of the 2018 review).
