Trapani

From Madison Pizza Wiki

Trapani was a pizza and Sicilian restaurant at 1441 Regent St., near Camp Randall, opened in about March 2008 by George Oliveira and Pietro Pipitone[1].

History

Trapani, named for the port city on the north coast of Sicily, took part of the space left empty when Sukho Thai went out of business. Oliveira, from Australia, had spent more than 20 years in Madison restaurants; Pipitone, a native of Sicily, owned Cafe La Bellitalia on North Sherman Avenue and had run pizzerias in Beaver Dam, Sun Prairie and Columbus[1][2]. The State Journal's reviewer found "good pizza and big portions" in a tiny, spartan room, with free delivery to the campus area and the Near West Side, $4 student lunch specials, and family pasta specials for four or five people at $20 to $25[3]. The Capital Times praised the marinara and said the place "would likely feel familiar to anyone who grew up 50 years ago in the Greenbush area"[1].

Pizza

  • Thin crust, pan and stuffed pizzas, with special pizzas at $10 to $20 in 2008; the thin crust was "perfectly crisp and loaded with fresh, good toppings"[3].
