MOD Pizza
MOD Pizza ("Made on Demand") is a fast-casual chain of build-your-own pizza restaurants, founded in Seattle in 2008. In April 2024 it had 534 restaurants, 11 of them in Wisconsin, all owned by the company[1].
History
MOD came to the Madison area on December 6, 2016, with a store at 2960 Cahill Main in Fitchburg, selling an 11-inch pie at a flat $7.87. A 2017 reviewer called the style "family-friendly industrial" — a brick wall painted white with "Fitchburg" in cursive, exposed ductwork, and a mounted skull with teal antlers — and praised a crust of "bubbly, multicolored terrain with crispy brown mountains and chewy valleys"[2]. It was followed by East Towne in June 2017 and West Towne in 2019. The East Towne store closed in about spring 2023. The Fitchburg store closed on March 20, 2024, with a day's notice, and employees said they had not been paid their final wages[1].
