The chain began in Oregon in 1981. In 1999 it was based in Vancouver, Wash., with about 500 stores in 17 states, and was looking for a Madison-area franchise consultant to oversee 20 to 25 stores.

Customers take the pizza home raw and bake it themselves (12–18 minutes). The stores don't deliver. Menu items over the years: stuffed and Chicago-style stuffed pizzas, calzones, Gourmet Chicken Garlic, the Cowboy, Rancher and Papa's Favorite, and thin-crust deLITE pizzas.
