Nonno’s Ristorante Italiano
From Madison Pizza Wiki
Nonno’s Ristorante Italiano is an Italian-American restaurant at 704 S. Whitney Way, at Odana Road, on Madison's West Side. It opened on December 2, 2013[1]. Pizza has been on the menu from the start, alongside pasta, panini and entrées, and Isthmus lists its cuisine as "Italian, Pizza"[2].
History
The owners, Juan Murillo and chef Joaquin Lopez, had run the Mexican restaurant Cancun in the same space, and before that they spent about a decade managing Tutto Pasta locations. The space was earlier the Sunprint Cafe. They named the new restaurant Nonno's, Italian for "grandpa," to signal a family restaurant[1].
Samara Kalk Derby reviewed it in February 2014 and found "nothing to criticize." Its menu then listed pizzas at $9 to $11[1].
Trivia
- Isthmus sums it up as "old-school Italian favorites, with good pizza and pasta and fresh seafood dishes"[2].
