Dilba, from Tomahawk, co-founded Ale Asylum in 2006. The brewery closed in 2022 and its brands were bought by Karben4 in 2023. He spent about 15 months perfecting Detroit-style pizza at home before announcing Molten Monkey in June 2024<ref name="mc-2024-06-25-molten-monkey-coming" />.
