Old Chicago (Old Chicago Pasta & Pizza) is a national restaurant chain. Its Madison restaurant, at 7202 Mineral Point Rd. across from West Towne Mall, was open from 1995 to 2015.

History

The restaurant was licensed by August 1995, in the name of Wadsworth Old Chicago[1]. It took over a building that had been Bridgeman's Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant[2].

It closed on September 20, 2015, at 5 p.m. Old Chicago left Madison "after its lease was not renewed" in favor of a Culver's, which was to break ground that fall and open in spring 2016[3]. The chain then had about 100 restaurants nationally[4].

Trivia

  • In October 1998 it was open until 2:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays[5], and the same hours were listed in October 1999, with a full bar and entrees of $10 to $15[6].
  • It was one of a dozen restaurants in the June 1999 Dining Out for Life benefit, and had a booth at the Taste of Madison that September[7][8].
  • Culver's had been looking for a site near West Towne "for at least five years"[4].
