During the 2018 Monroe Street reconstruction ($21 million, March–November), Pizza Brutta was among the restaurants that "took big hits at lunch"; merchants reported sales down 10–38 percent.
Six focaccia lunch sandwiches baked to order in the wood-fired oven at 650 degrees; by evening the oven is too hot for them and pizzas bake in 60 seconds. Manager Cooper Heine had been there about four years in 2014.
Neapolitan pizza from a wood-burning brick oven in the former Sepp Sports ski shop, a stone cottage across from Trader Joe's; counter ordering, $9–$12 pies; 'brutta' (ugly) because 'bella' is overused. Signature pies: Siciliana, Salsiccia (Wisconsin fennel sausage), Salami e Funghi, Margherita with house mozzarella.
