Terry Voice

Terry Voice was the president of Pizza Pit from at least 1983[1] until January 2000[2].
Voice started in the pizza business in 1964 with the company that became Domino's[3]. A 1999 column credits him with starting Pizza Pit in 1969, "creating a delivery market where there was none"[4].
He led the company through its bankruptcy in 1999. "We were going to try to grow to 100 stores in a couple of years. It just wasn't in the cards for us", he said[5]. Looking back a few months later, he said he had paid too much attention to individual stores and too little to the franchising side[3]. After the company stores were sold in January 2000 he was no longer involved[2].
Trivia
- When the stores were closed in January 2000 Voice said he could have kept them open until the ingredients ran out, but "I'm not going to ask people to work if I know I can't pay them"[6].
