1401 Emil St. is near Fish Hatchery Road and the Beltline. Pizza Pit had a store here for about 41 years, longer than at any other address found so far. The address also appears as 1401 Fish Hatchery.

Timeline

  • By August 1965 to at least October 1970: Elm Tree Thrift Bakery[1][2].
  • By March 1971 to 2012: Pizza Pit[3]. Advertisements called it the "So. Central" store, at "Fish Hatchery at the Beltline"[4][5].
    • August 1999: pictured on the front page when Pizza Pit filed for bankruptcy[6].
    • January 19, 2000: closed with the other company stores[7]. It was to reopen under new owners on February 9[8].
    • April 2012: still advertising, with the telephone number it had in 1971, 251-4412[9].
  • December 2012: the city gave notice of a plan to "demolish restaurant building to allow construction of multi-tenant retail building with drive-thru"[10].
  • 2013: Firehouse Subs, its second Madison restaurant, planned to open in the new building on August 13[11].
