Fresco Pasta Cafe was an Italian cafe and deli at 6613 Mineral Point Rd., on Madison's far West Side. Bally opened it in September 1984, and by mid-1986 it had become Flakey Jake's[1][2].

History

The site was the old Barnaby's Family Inn. Bally bought the Barnaby's chain in 1981 and closed it[3], and in the spring of 1982 put its Tom Foolery video-game restaurant there[2]; the Capital Times remembered its "rather pedestrian pizzas"[1]. When Tom Foolery folded, Bally opened Fresco Pasta Cafe on the same site in September 1984[1]. Under the same owners it then became Flakey Jake's, a gourmet burger restaurant[2].

Pizza

  • The fall 1984 dining guide described it as a "Casual Italian cafe and deli featuring homemade pastas, sauces and pizza"[4].
