Jim Meyer is the co-founder and owner of Pizza Extreme, and since about 2000 a partner in Pizza Pit.

Meyer grew up in Madison. He began working at a Pizza Pit in the Meadowood Shopping Center after graduating from Memorial High School in 1979; two of his brothers worked for the company at the time[1]. He also worked for a while at Edwardo's[2].

In 1991 he and Bill Stein, his friend and mentor at Pizza Pit, opened Pizza Extreme at 605 E. Washington Ave. Stein died a year later. "Everything after that was done to try to be true to what he had wanted and to make him proud", Meyer said[1].

In January 2000 Meyer and Carter Smith headed the group of investors that bought Pizza Pit's seven company stores in Madison[3].
