Known only from the City of Madison license lists of May 2000 and May 2001 (Liquor & Beer Class B); not in the May 2002 list. Its relation to the Gargano family of Gino's and Peppino's is unverified.

Planned as Bellini's, Biagio Gargano's Italian restaurant in the former Monastery, with 24 tapas-style appetizers (about $5), 16 pizzas and 15 pastas; first expected in Jan. 1999, then 'soon after July 10'; licensed in May 1999 as Pizzeria Bellini (The Monastery, Inc., agent Peter Gargano).
First announced in Dec. 1997: Biagio Gargano, recovered from the illness that closed the Monastery in 1994, would open Pizzeria Bellini in the old Monastery in Feb. or March 1998, with son Peter as license agent. The opening slipped: it was still 'planned' in Jan. and July 1999 and first licensed in May 1999.
The Class B liquor and beer license applied for in Dec. 1997 was granted by the council on Jan. 6, 1998 (ID 22725, The Monastery, Inc.), but the restaurant did not open: it is absent from the May 1998 renewal list, and in 1999 it was still 'planned'.
The 2000-2001 license lists are not the whole story: as Bellini Italian Restaurant it ran from 1999 until November 2016 (17 years), run by Biagio Gargano's family; Pete (Peter) Gargano closed it and leased the church to the Hail Mary Sports Grill.
