On July 16, 1996 staff closing the restaurant found a 2-year-old left behind by a 15-person party; manager Sharon Fitch waited an hour before calling police, and the boy was back with his mother the next morning. The Capital Times put the story on page 1 and called the restaurant one 'known for catering to children'.
Opened at the beginning of July 1982, a block east of West Towne Mall, with Billy Bob and the Rock-Afire Explosion animatronic band, video games and skee ball; counter orders earned game tokens; large cheese pizza $9.25 — 'the pizza is not enough to keep people coming back, but the entertainment is' (Campbell). LaRose (1989): thick chewy crust; 'a great place for birthday parties'.
1985 guide: 'Family entertainment center serving mostly pizza and fun'; 11–10 Sun–Thu, 11–11 Fri–Sat.
Listed as 'ShowBiz Pizza Place' in October 1987: 'Rides and games for adults & children. Specializes in birthday parties and fun for the whole family.'
Collins (Dec 1989): manager Gary Fay estimated about a half-million customers a year, about 5,000 a day in the week after Christmas; a token for every $2 spent and three tokens for each report-card A; the robotic band played a Christmas show; 'far from the best pizza in town' but a good salad bar.
