Itzza Pizza was a pizza chain, established Rockford, IL. Its Madison store, at 2825 University Ave., was open by June 2014[1] and was still open in April 2016[2]. It was "short-lived"[3]; Gumby's later returned to the address.
Pizza Styles
Itzza Pizza sold pizza in three main categories:
- Regular and gluten-free crust
- Chicago Stuffed
- Deep Dish Pan
- A writer in 2014 found the regular crust "about Pizza Pit-thin". The deep dish had a garlic romano crust and came in four sizes, from a 10-inch at $10.39 to a 16-inch at $19.99. The specialty pizzas included the Heart Attack and the Chicago Hot Beef[1].
- A 12-inch stuffed pizza cost $12.99 in 2016[2].
Trivia
- The store was for carry-out and delivery, and was open daily from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m.[2]
- It took over the space "that housed Gumby's Pizza until 2014"[2], behind the IHOP on University Avenue[1].
- The dates in the newspapers do not agree. One later account says Itzza opened in 2016[3], but it was reviewed on a local food website in June 2014[1].
Former Locations
