The owner said the land was worth more redeveloped; the site became the Uno Terrace apartments.
Tom Beach had been with the brand 26 years: he bought the downtown Uno (opened 1985) in 1987 and closed it around 2010; the East Towne-area store dates from about 2001.

Michael Muckian gave the west-side Uno three stars in May 1999: six thin-crust and a dozen deep-dish pizzas in three sizes, plus fajitas, crab cakes and sirloin tips; the Artipeggio thin crust beat the jambalaya deep dish; a patio opened for summer 1999.
Announced Dec. 14, 1990: the 10-year-old Chez Michel (with the Cajun Cafe upstairs) would close at the end of 1990 and reopen as Tom Beach's second Pizzeria Uno in spring 1991 with about 60 employees and an enlarged kitchen for quick lunches; Beach's franchise was also planning a third Uno in Milwaukee.
Opened Monday, July 15, 1991 in the 125-year-old Ganzer farmhouse, expanded and renovated with ceramic tile floors, a mahogany bar and booths; two reviews that summer praised the setting over the 'cavernous' State Street Uno and the Spinoccoli pizza; the staff were trained for a week by Uno's trainers from Boston rather than transferred from downtown.
