912 E. Johnson St., on the near east side, has held one pizza place after another since 1981: Supreme Pizza for almost 30 years, then Madtown Pizza, then Salvatore's Tomato Pies.

Timeline

  • January 1978: The Rising Sun, advertising for counter help[1].
  • By April 1981 to November 2010: Supreme Pizza[2][3]. Owned by David Wilson from 1984 until his death in September 2000[4]; closed for a few weeks after that and again for a month in 2001, between owners[5][6].
  • 2011: Madtown Pizza, opened by Kelly Grant, who bought Supreme Pizza with Rita "Kay" Cerniglia in November 2010[3]. It was open in March 2012[7].
  • December 2014: Salvatore's Tomato Pies.

Trivia

  • The 1989 dining column that praised Supreme Pizza's vegetarian toppings gave the telephone number as 255-2500[8]; by 2009 it was 255-2200[9].
