Richard "Dick" Domenget was the owner of The Pizza Oven in Monona, which he ran with his family for 42 years[1].

Domenget left a job on the assembly line of a paint roller factory in Fond du Lac to help his brothers Dennis and Milton run a pizza parlor. "On our first night, we made $16", he said. His sister Jeanette, his wife Judy and their three children all worked at the restaurant[2].

He sold the business in 2004, when the original restaurant at 6016 Monona Dr. closed for redevelopment, and helped the new owner start by making the pizzas for the first weeks[2].

Trivia

  • A window let customers see into the kitchen where he worked[2].
  • He collected soda memorabilia, which decorated the restaurant[3].
  • "We're the only ones who know the recipe", he said of himself and his son[2].
