Luigi's Pizza is restaurant and pizzeria at 515 S. Midvale Blvd.[1] Along with Bar Corallini, it's a Food Fight restaurant. Food Fight's advertisements in 2024 called it "a neighborhood pizzeria on the near-west side"[2], and it was still one of the group's restaurants in July 2025[3].

History

The original Luigi's Diner was a Food Fight restaurant at the corner of King and East Main streets, which closed in 2004 after about seven years. Bill and Melanie Horzuesky, who had run it for most of that time and owned the Monroe Street Bluephies, revived the name in 2011 in new construction at Sequoya Commons, with the same designer, Ed Linville[4]. Planned for mid-September, it was open by November 2011: counter ordering, wooden booths, thin-crust pizzas brushed with cornmeal in 10- and 14-inch sizes, wine on tap and a build-your-own cannoli bar[5]. 77 Square named it the "best restaurant reincarnation" of 2011[6].

Pizza

  • The Whadyacallit pizza — roasted fingerling potatoes, gorgonzola, mozzarella and rosemary — was a Capital Times favorite in 2012[7].

Trivia

  • In 2015 the kids' menu — the "Y" options — had only cheese pizza and noodles with red sauce; Food Fight's Joey Connaughty was then managing partner[1].
