Frank & Andrea is a pizza and cheesesteak restaurant at 435 N. Frances St., in the Hub apartment building near State Street. It opened at noon on Wednesday, July 1, 2026[1]. It is the second location of a Minneapolis restaurant near the University of Minnesota, opened in 2016[2]; the first is in Dinkytown[3].

History

The founders are Shaz Khan and Antonio Gambino, friends from high school in Roseville, Minnesota. The restaurant is named for Gambino's brother Frank and his father Andrea, from Sicily, who sold pizza by the slice in downtown Minneapolis[2]; Gambino's mother is from Philadelphia, and the menu is "a Sicilian/Philly mash-up"[3]. The partners also run Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks in the Twin Cities[2].

The Madison store was announced in April 2025 for the fall[2]. It opened in July 2026, next to the former Porta Bella, with a ribbon cutting on July 3 and hours of 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.[1]

Pizza

  • Giant New York-style slices, and whole pizzas[2]; slices are 12 or 18 inches long[3].
  • Specialty pizzas include the Cheese Head (alfredo sauce and macaroni), the Garlic Fry, the Pineapple Express and the Paul Bunyan (alfredo, macaroni, brisket, jalapeño, hot honey, cheddar)[2], and slices called the Chipotle Tender and the Gianncarlo[3].

Locations

  • 435 N. Frances St. (July 1, 2026 to present).
